Take a Look – 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Exterior
What do we think about the the seventh generation 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe exterior?
It’s low, wide and sleek. So it’s definitely a 911!
2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Exterior
The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe exterior has the typical appearance of a 911, But lot has changed compared to the predecessor. The car has gained some length, and lost some weight. The wheelbase is 100 mm longer, the front track is wider (46 mm on the 911 Carrera and 52 mm on the Carrera S) and the roofline is lower. The all-new, lightweight body is an intelligent aluminium-steel construction. It is responsible for a significant proportion of the weight reduction of up to 45 kilograms.
Seen from the front, the eye is drawn to the 911’s trademark wide-arched wings. They emphasise the wider front track, so that the new 911 Carrera models sit even more solidly on the road. With the lower roofline, the car looks very sleek. The remodelled exterior mirrors are now accommodated on the upper edge of the door and not on the mirror triangle as before.
Bi-Xenon Headlights as Standard
Bi-Xenon headlights are standard on the 911 Carrera models. The automatic headlight activation is also a standard feature. As you drive into the dark of evening, the daytime running lights switch off and the lowbeam headlights switch on automatically. The restyled LED front light units incorporate direction indicators, daytime running lights, and position lights.
Seen from the rear, the car looks muscular, but also very clean and sharp. This is due to the distinct lines and narrow LED taillights which accentuate the horizontal contouring of the rear. LED technology is also used for the the high-level third brake light, the license-plate illumination, the rear direction indicators, and the rear fog light.
The exhaust system of the 911 is completely redesigned. The stainless steel system comprises two fully independent exhaust tracts. A twin-tube sport exhaust is available as an option. With the touch of a button, it produces an exhaust note with an even more aggressive sporting character.
The wide rear spoiler is extendable which reduces lift in all driving situations and increases driving stability. With aerodynamic optimisation, the 991-generation 911 Carrera achieves a low drag
coefficient of 0.29.
