2.0-Litre Turbocharged Engine
The 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster T is powered by a two-litre turbocharged engine. It delivers a maximum output of 220 kW (300 PS) at 6,500 rpm. Maximum torque of 380 Nm is constantly available from 1,950 to 4,500 rpm. The spontaneously responsive, high-revolution four-cylinder boxer engine can rev up to 7,500 rpm.
Manual or PDK Transmission
This two-seater comes as standard with a six-speed manual transmission. In Sport and Sport Plus modes of the Sport Chrono package, manual transmission adjusts for speed differences when downshifting using a dynamic double-clutch function, creating an even more emotional driving experience. The 7-speed PDK transmission is available as an option.
Sport Chrono Package
The Sport Chrono package is included as standard. In addition to the Normal, Sport and Sport Plus modes, it also offers an Individual mode. Individual allows drivers to create a personalised configuration for the PASM, sports exhaust system, Auto Start/Stop function and rear spoiler.
Sport Response Button
With the optional PDK transmission, the Sport Chrono package is enhanced by the Launch Control function and the Sport Response Button. If Sport Response is activated, the engine and PDK transmission respond even more directly for a maximum of 20 seconds. At the same time, the PDK switches to a lower gear and changes to a driving mode with higher gear-shifting speed than in Sport Plus mode.
Dynamic Boost Function
With the new Dynamic Boost function the Boxster’s turbo engine responds as quickly as a naturally aspirated engine. The function is activated (in the Sport and Sport Plus modes) when the driver briefly takes their foot off the accelerator while accelerating at full speed. Despite changes in load, the throttle remains largely open, and only the fuel injection stops. When this happens, the boost pressure does not drop completely, making it possible for the engine to deliver much quicker response. The Dynamic Boost function can improve responsiveness also in Normal mode.
Precise Steering System
The 718 T benefits from an electromechanical steering system featuring a ratio that is 10% more direct than the previous generation of Cayman and Boxster models, delivering more agile handling. The steering gear comes from the 911 Turbo, while the steering wheel design is based on that of the 918 Spyder.
Mechanical Differential Lock
The 718 Boxster T comes as standard with the Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear-axle differential lock. It uses a brake pulse to create angular momentum around the vertical axis of the vehicle when cornering. The result is greater steering precision and agility. The mechanical differential lock supports traction when rapidly accelerating out of tight bends. This improves longitudinal and lateral dynamics and enhances both performance and driving pleasure.
Lowered PASM Sports Suspension
The PASM Sports suspension is a standard feature. It lowers the car by 20 mm making it sit more solidly on the road. It also significantly increases the potential lateral force of the Boxster T.
Powerful Braking System
Fast car comes with a high-performance brake system. As standard, the T models features four-cylinder fixed calipers with 330 x 28 mm front discs and 299 x 20 mm rear discs. The optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system features yellow painted six-cylinder fixed calipers.
Is it Fast?
2020 Porsche 718 Boxster T with a manual gearbox can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and reach 200 km/h in 18.3 seconds. With the PDK and Launch Control, the sprint to 100 km/h takes just 4.7 seconds. Top speed is 275 km/h. So yes, the 718 Boxster T is pretty fast.
