2013 Porsche Cayman – 10 Fast Facts
2.7-Litre Engine
The heart of the 2013 Porsche Cayman is a free-revving 2.7-liter flat-six engine with Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) and VarioCam Plus. The engine sits right behind the driver, just about 30 cm (12 inches) away.
275 Horsepower
The naturally aspirated 2.7-litre six-cylinder develops 202 kW (275 hp). The maximum torque of 290 Nm (213 lb.-ft.) is available across a wide speed range between 4,500 and 6,500 rpm.
Six-Speed Manual
Cayman comes as standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Shift throws are short and the gear lever is easy to operate, providing a truly engaging driving experience. The upshift indicator located in the central circular instrument helps to maximize fuel efficiency in daily driving.
PDK Transmission
The PDK transmission was available as an option. With the 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gear changes take place with no interruption in the flow of power.
Sport Button
Did you notice the Sport button on the center console. In Sport mode, the engine response to the pedal is even more direct and immediate, and the rev limiter is adjusted to a harder setting. With the PDK, the shift times are reduced and gearshifts become firmer and more immediate, while throttle-blip downshifts are accompanied by an even more emotive engine sound.
Sporty Engine Sounds
In the Cayman models, each cylinder bank has its own stainless steel exhaust tract. The separate tracts enable the exhaust gas to flow more freely. The resulting reduction in pressure loss has a positive impact on power output, torque, and the unmistakable engine sound.
Optional Sport Exhaust
The sport exhaust system with Sport tailpipe was available as an option. It produces an even more resonant Porsche sound.
18-Inch Wheels
Cayman is equipped as standard with 18-inch alloy wheel. With their minimalist dual-arm spoke design they emphasise the car’s sporty character. Tire sizes are 235/45 ZR 18 at the front and 265/45 ZR 18 at the rear.
How Fast is It?
With the manual transmission, the 2013 Porsche Cayman can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The PDK is a bit faster. The same sprint to 100 km/h takes just 5.6 seconds. And with the optional Sport Chrono Package and PDK, the car can reach 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
Top Speed
With the PDK transmission, the top speed of the Cayman is 264 km/h. With the manual the car is even faster, reaching a top speed of 266 km/h.
